Delivery of Spring Flood Relief Donations

Sideline Pass, former LSU & Falcons star Todd McClure

Wednesday, May 17 at 1:00

Copper Mill Elementary School, 1300 Independence Blvd, Zachary, LA 70791

Last year after the devastating floods of 2016, Sideline Pass adopted the students of Copper Mill Elementary, pledging to help them recover. Since then, the mentors at Sideline Pass have been collecting donations to aid the children and faculty: toys, games, books, clothing, and many other items. On Wednesday, May 17th, we will be loading our items up in New Orleans and driving to Copper Mill to deliver our spring donation.

This partnership evolved shortly after the flooding began, when Sideline Pass founder Jenifer Hale reached out to long time LSU friend Todd McClure, a former starter for both LSU and the Atlanta Falcons, who has now retired to his hometown of Zachary. McClure asked Sideline Pass to help provide long term resource for the students—whatever it takes for recovery. Hale cited Katrina: “as too many of us know from Hurricane Katrina, recovery from an all-encompassing disaster like this takes a long time.”

In August of 2016, the worst natural disaster to strike the United States since Hurricane Sandy in 2012 hit Southeastern Louisiana. This devastating flood left thousands of people in Louisiana homeless and hopeless and is estimated to cost at least $30 million. The flood was so catastrophic that President Obama declared over 20 parishes disaster areas.

Sideline Pass Touch-A-Plane Aviation Education Day

Sideline Pass, The Black Hawk Flight Foundation, The Ninety-Nines

Saturday, May 20 from 9 am – 2 pm

Diamond Head Airport, 1200 Airport Cir, Diamondhead, MS 39525

Sideline Pass is thrilled to team up with The Black Hawk Flight Foundation and the licensed female pilots of the Ninety Nines to offer our mentees a unique day of learning about aviation and the scholarship opportunities in that field.

We will be travelling to Diamondhead, MS where our girls will receive ground school lessons, enjoy actual planes rides to experience the thrill of flying first-hand and hear from the Ninety-Nines about what it takes to be a successful female in the industry. Information on aviation scholarships will also be provided for our girls who are interested in becoming pilots. A big part of Sideline Pass’ mission is to empower young women to dream big, then provide them with the necessary tools to achieve those dreams.

Sideline Pass is a non-profit organization headquartered in New Orleans, dedicated to mentoring and empowering young women to educate themselves and go on to enjoy successful careers. While Sideline Pass works with a variety of groups, the foundation focuses its efforts on female athletes, at-risk females, and those in foster care.

The Blackhawk Flight Foundation is a nonprofit organization that aims to educate the public on aviation and other aeronautical studies, as well as to provide guidance, mentoring, and scholarship to those who are less able.

The Ninety-Nines are an international group of licensed female pilots in 44 countries. Numbering more than a thousand professionals, the Ninety Nines are dedicated to sharing their passion for flying with others. They offer aviation classes for adults and STEM classes for youth to stimulate interest in the aviation field.
